About Us
We don’t just know Africa, we live it. At Wild Sage, we’re not just a DMC or operator—we’re travellers, storytellers, and guides who call this region home. Rooted in Rwanda, we live and breathe East Africa’s cultures, landscapes, and wildlife every day—and that connection shapes every journey we create.
We design homegrown journeys, crafted with soul—immersive, tailor-made experiences that celebrate the wild beauty and cultural richness of East and Southern Africa. Never generic, never one-size-fits-all, every itinerary is handcrafted to reflect your style of travel and guided by our deep local expertise.
Who We Are
Wild Sage Africa was founded by Canadian travel journalist and photographer Alicia-Rae Light and Rwandan safari guide Isiaka Nzaramba (Isaac). Together, we blend global expertise with local roots to craft journeys that are personal, sustainable, and unforgettable.
With our own fleet of custom safari vehicles and a trusted network of expert guides, we offer boutique DMC services in Rwanda and Uganda, while also curating extraordinary safaris across East and Southern Africa with our trusted partners. Every detail is seamless, every journey authentic—always keeping the soul of Africa at the heart of the experience.
Why Choose Us?
Because we’re not just operators—we’re travelers, storytellers, and guides who live and breathe this region. Isaac knows the landscapes, wildlife, and people of East Africa like family, with a passion that makes every safari come alive. Alicia adds creativity, detail, and two decades of global travel experience to craft trips that feel as beautiful and effortless as they are adventurous. Together, we combine heart and expertise to make sure every journey with Wild Sage is authentic, seamless, and full of wonder.
We’re partners in life and in travel, and Wild Sage is an extension of who we are. Our strength comes from blending Isaac’s deep, on-the-ground guiding expertise with Alicia-Rae’s global storytelling and creative vision.
Together, we bring a rare balance of heart and expertise. Isaac’s roots and relationships across East Africa, paired with Alicia’s two decades of international travel experience, allow us to craft journeys that are seamless yet soulful, refined yet real.
We live here, we love this place, and we thrive on sharing it—creating journeys that are authentic, thoughtful, and unforgettable.

At the heart of every Wild Sage journey is the expertise and passion of our co-owner and Safari Director, Isiaka “Isaac” Nzaramba. Born and raised in Rwanda, Isaac has spent more than 15 years guiding travellers across Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania, earning recognition as one of the region’s most trusted naturalists and storytellers.
A fully licensed professional safari guide, Isaac has led hundreds of journeys—from gorilla treks in Volcanoes National Park to multi-country safaris across East Africa. His deep relationships with park wardens, rangers, lodge owners, and community leaders open doors to experiences and insider access that few others can offer.
More than a guide, Isaac is a cultural bridge and conservation advocate. With warmth, humour, and an infectious enthusiasm for nature, he brings Rwanda’s landscapes, wildlife, and traditions vividly to life. Whether tracking lions in Akagera, interpreting primate behavior in Nyungwe, or introducing guests to village elders, Isaac ensures every journey is not just witnessed but deeply felt.
With his unmatched expertise, personal connections, and heartfelt dedication to creating transformative travel experiences, Isaac embodies the spirit of Wild Sage: journeys that are authentic, ethical, and unforgettable.
